The Mountain House

Normally I don’t like to publish the houses in which I live or have lived, but this one is special.

This is my refuge; my small corner of paradise.

It’s the home of late summer barbecues, birthdays, gatherings and farewells, laughter, tears.

Every time you arrive there is a lot of happiness, when you leave there is a lot of sadness, when you are far away there is a lot of nostalgia.

A small mountain apartment in a village that seems designed by a good artist, such is its beauty. The felt lamps made by a local artisan, the stools with two simple trunks taken from a forest near the house, the swing in the children’s room; a banal bench bought from a second-hand dealer and then transformed.

I wanted to recreate a mountain style but with a more modern and minimal touch.

Every corner, albeit with a well-defined budget, has been studied in detail. Alberto the carpenter, Gianluca the plumber, Luciano the bricklayer and Gianpiero the electrician made sure that my ideas could become reality.

The apartment is about 90 square meters. Definitely a bit small for a family of five like ours.

Sometimes we think of the dream house as a palace with many rooms and large gardens but we forget about when we were children. When our favorite place was a tent made of blankets and hanging tongs, created in a corner of an already small room where, however, a lantern and a book were enough to make us feel good.
